Thank you to the contributors of this Qurbani / Udhiya distribution.
Quick background:
Every year Revive Afghanistan manages Qurbani / Udhiya distribution in Afghanistan, this gives donors around the world the opportunity to distribute their Qurbani meat to the less fortunate in Afghanistan.
Many Afghans are living below the poverty line, this means meat is not common in the Afghan family diet for the less fortunate, majority of these poor families wait for Qurbani to come around so they can have meat in their diet.
In 2024 Revive Afghanistan was able to do our own distribution in Afghanistan and also on behalf of two New Zealand charities and one Non profit from the United Kingdom.

2024 Qurbani Distribution in Afghanistan:
Revive Afghanistan NZ is a registered charity based out of Auckland, New Zealand, we are focusing on making a difference in Afghanistan through sustainable projects.
How does Qurbani happen in Afghanistan?
In Afghanistan we find that prices are cheaper 1-2 months prior to Eid Ul Adha, however as we get closer to the day of Eid prices have jumped rapidly, we visit different locations to get the best prices for our donors including the markets, farms and private sellers, we also check with contacts in other locations including Kandahar, Kunar and Nuristan where most the animals come from to seek the best prices.
Revive Afghanistan NZ has more dynamic pricing where we advertise the cost at the same rate of the bazaar, and as the prices increase we keep this transparent and inform our donors via social media and our website. That means donations that come in for Qurbani only go towards the Qurbani distribution.

Where did Qurbani take place this year?
Revive Afghanistan was able to complete Qurbani across 3 cities including Kunduz, Nangarhar and Kunar. Within these cities we had multiple distribution points and we plan to increase the cities we support as the Qurbani donors increase over the years too.
We ensure that the meat is portioned into medium size packs and then distributed to the less fortunate.
Key details about our Qurbani distribution.
- 157 Portions
- 2710 Kgs
- 1355 Packs distributed
- 10840 individual supported
Distribution of Qurbani packs to families in rural Afghanistan.
Going forward
We plan to increase our Qurbani distribution locations, this relies on the amount of Qurbani requests that come in for Afghanistan, Revive Afghanistan NZ has been expanding year on year alhamdulillah.
